I just purchased the FScene4x total package
and am surprised to see that it is even better than all the previous texture packages for both FS9 and FSX.
MANY KUDOS. Jim

Hi Ruud.
I have just bought, downloaded and running the USA/Canada scenery.
It is absolutely wonderful and am currently flying around Ketchigan in South Alaska and also round Chicago at night.
Thanks a million for such wonderful scenery. John

Christopher Marshall (flightsim.com)
These new textures are excellent, they have opened up a whole new world to the flightsimmer.
I could not believe the huge difference that they have made, they really are brilliant. I have been a flightsimmer for many years and this has been the best addon that I have installed and believe me I have tried many.
Congratulations to the designer for an A1 product. Cheers. Chris. Rating: 5 of 5 Stars!

Thanks for your very quick response (stopped the clock at 20 minutes )
And I never really thanked you for your product!
Although my wife never liked the idea of spending so much money on Flightsim addons which I had to compromise with taking her out for dinner at the same amount (so you know in which type of restaurant I had to go), I still enjoy it every day. Together with FSGlobal2005 I think I have purchased a very good combination.

From Andrew Herd - (Reviewer Flightsim.com)
Last time I reviewed FScene, I couldn't help wondering why Microsoft didn't just go out and hire Ruud to do the FS2004 textures for them.
Now I have the luxury of going back and taking a second look at them, I find I still think that way, so I guess these textures from the flying Dutchman deserve their Armchair Aviator Award. Unlike so many addons, Ruud's textures have made a permanent home on my hard disk.

From Ian Scott - (Reviewer AVSIM.com)
All I can say is this: Since I bought Ruud's texture sets, my enjoyment of FS
has been immeasurably enhanced. I enjoy looking at the scenery in ways that no
previous experience of flight simming has ever given me.
Though the default FS2004 Ground Textures are a huge improvement over the
past, Ruud's give a much more "3D" and "textured" look and at times the scenery
almost looks "photorealistic."

Ruud Faber, the masterful creator of the FScene2004 replacement textures for
Flight Simulator, makes the FS landscape really come to life....
His rendition of the European Alps look true-to-life
and his USA fall landscape, with the vibrating colors of the Indian Summer,
really adds tremendous value to VFR flying

By Jaap van Hees - Kortenhoef - The Netherlands
(Maker of the popular 'VFR Guide
Series'

A little while ago I became the proud owner of FScene US & Canada, all 4 seasons, made by Ruud Faber. These products add more 'reality' to flying VFR or overflying the landscape at higher altitudes. It gives the ground-textures a wider variation in colours like in the 'real world', instead of the two- or three-colour usage of the default FS ground-textures.
You can distinguish between everything much better. Clearly recognisable is the 'country-side' with it's hedges, treelines, meadows, corn- and other fields, farms, villages etc. etc.
There are also shadows added which creates a good 3D-effect. And in urban areas things are easy distinguishable too: from about 3000 ft altitude for instance busy shopping-quarters with lots of traffic are clearly visible, so are parkinglots etc. I have a lot of aerial photo's of the area I like to fly VFR a lot (NW Washington State) and FScene's resemblance with these real-world photo's is staggering!
Ruud's advice: clouds scattered cumulus, visibility of about 50-80 miles, altitude of 4000-5000 ft gives the best effects. Well, this may be true, but as a bushflyer I would like to add something else: flying in mountainous terrain along mountainslopes and through valleys looks much better too! The mountains and valleys are much more beautiful. Lots is there to see, even little mountain-roads and –paths are clearly visible!
FScene has only one "disadvantage": you pay more attention to the world below around you than to the approach and landing of the various airports. This could lead to serious problems. So, don't say I did not warn you! - Jaap

By Kristofer Kristensen - Linkoeping - Sweden
When I first made acquaintance with the FScene product line I was sceptical, mostly because of the price.
Now I own three copies of summer textures including this one, Africa. It's definetly worth the money.
These textures look gorgeous and unlike before I now believe FScene is well worth the money, because unlike a specific scenery such as an airport or a smaller region, these products enhance and give you enjoyment over very, very vast areas.
Try flying over South Africa with FScene Africa Summer Texture and FSGenesis Africa Mesh and you will see Flight Simulator at its very best.

My textures are working fine now. I guess I messed up the installation somehow when installing. Summer went on fine but I messed up the rest.
Yes, you may quote me as saying I am very happy with the textures over the default textures.
The colors are much more vibrant an realistic, and I can see a much better realism in forest and farmland areas. I never realized how much I enjoyed them until I switched seasons and didn't have them. What a difference when I finally solved my problem and got them back!
Now I am back up and things are working fine. I plan on getting Europe soon. Keep up the good work.

Tom

This must be one of the best upgrades you could buy - it looked good even on my old Geforce 4 4200 card.... and you don't even suffer framerate problems.
I would recommend people with Flight1's FSWater, FSGenesis Mesh and your textures to fly over the channel from Holland to the UK at dusk - it's unbelievable!!
I've tried some of the Photo sceneries on the market that utilizes satellite photos, but have binned them as they don't come near your textures.
The only "problem" I have with the textures is that I sometimes forget to fly as I find my self gazing at the scenery. ;o)
Thanks again for your outstanding job, Lars

By Sascha Rieger - art director by profession.
I have just purchased FScene2004 EU-Summer and am VERY happy with it. This is rare for me as I am really picky regarding the quality of FS Addons (and graphic work in general as I am an art director by profession).
Your work makes FS9 so much more realistic! I will definitely get additional sets to upgrade the flight simming experience even further, buying new textures as the seasons arrive!
I am also particularly looking forward to the Asia Texture Set!
Best regards, Sascha

With his new FScene 2004 series , Ruud Faber has done it again.
The realism that is added is overwelming. Flightsimulator looks like a total different simulator.
As a Wideview flyer with 6 outside view monitors people ask me where I got the photorealistic scenery from.
I often use my 747-400 for VFR flying, just to look at the landscape and I can do so for hours !
All continents and all sesons are incredible. This is the closest experience to real flying. - Gerard

I first purchased FScene2004 USA & Canada Summer about a year ago. The product is amazing. If you want to add extra realism to your Flight Sim experience, FScene is sure to leave you in awe of what you are seeing.
Developer Rudd Faber has done a spectacular job in making the ground textures unbelievably realistic. Looking at the ground with FScene is the closest thing yet I have seen to what you would see if you look out the window of a real in-flight aircraft. I was so impressed with Rudd's product that I have since installed FScene USA & Canada Fall, Winter and Spring.
Just today I installed FScene Europe Summer so that I can now begin to enjoy the sights that Rudd has created while flying over Europe. These products are definitely TOP NOTCH! - Vaughan

The true test of a Flight Simulator add-on is this: If you had to do without, which is the one add-on you'd keep? That's easy - FScene.
The difference is striking - familiar with the default textures, FScene2004 was like stepping into another world. A real world. The dull, repetitive default textures are replaced by a realistic, varied and more colorful terrain.
As each new season is released, we eagerly snap it up and install it - it's quite simply the most valued set of addons we own! - Jennifer
Added after release of Patch for rivers:
Wow! The new rivers and streams patch is amazing! That is so much more realistic! Thank you. -

Review in one word: speechless ...
OK, now in more detail: When I first saw the quite high price for a few
replacement textures I thought there must be an error ... but then I thought if
the thing is worth its money, it has to be the add-on of the year ... I tried
out Europe and ... I was right! I have combined Ruud Faber's textures with
Justin Tyme's (FSGenesis) mesh terrain and what I got was the next best thing
to Flight Simulator 2006 (!)
The textures are a quantum leap indeed - most of all I like the woods - finally
it looks like there really are trees - in fact the effect is so good that I
have turned off the auto-gen completely which has the nice side-effect of an
increase in framerate!
so much for the pros ... cons: flight-sim addiction might be a side-effect ...
so long,
Marcel

Good Morning Ruud,
Firstly let me congratulate you for your work.
Being a FS fan for years, I bought a week ago your FS Europe 4 seasonal texture and the result is amazing, more specially the sense of deepness that it gives, even over flat areas.
Flying most of the time from Geneva (LSGG), the panorama over the alps is just superb and so realistic in term of colours, deepness. (I am using your textures with Lago Terramesh Europe 2004).
Of course you may use my comments, I would be rather happy to be a supporter for such a good work.
Cheers,

I also want you to know that the textures work fine with Lago's Scandinavian
Mesh already installed on my machine.

Anyone who has the slightest familiarity with the flight sim world knows of
Ruud Faber and his absolutely outstanding replacement textures released under
the FScene name.
As one who uses ALL of his great work, I'm particularly excited to report that
Ruud has announced three new projects for 2004: FScene 2004- Australia and New
Zealand summer textures to be released this month, FScene 2004- Africa, and
FScene 2004- South America.
These replacement textures are the best around and if you've not used them or
seen them, then shame on you.

You will get so much more enjoyment out of flying almost everywhere in the
world too. The biggest improvement in these textures are the forests in lovely
autumn colours that find their way into scenery in Australia and other
locations around the world.
This product produces such an improvement over the default textures it cannot
even be compared with them!.
I have the other textures too, but I highly recommend FScene2004. My Rating: [5

Ruud, I have tested the FScene2004 USA&Canada Fall files some, and everywhere I
put my
plane, (so far all around New Hampshire, where I live and am most
familiar with how the terrain looks in every season, plus a few distant
locales such as the Grand Canyon and northern California).
It looks
fantastic!
I see what you mean about integrating better with the autogen scenery --
where there are autogen buildings, everywhere I've looked your scenery
shows cleared patches of land, appropriate to the buildings.
I can't begin to imagine the many hours you have spent getting this
stuff just right!
Fantastic job!

From Michael Burley - - Australia
Just wanted to say your FScene2004 summer USA&Canada textures are really great.
Whatever you did with the forest it looks far more realistic than any other
textures I have seen anywhere.
I have also bought some Lago Georender locations which although they are
photorealistic are not as pleasant to fly around as your textures combined with
FSgenesis mesh.
Keep up the excellent work.

As for the USA &Canada scenery. It really is the best i've seen.
I have seen some mesh and it is quite good,
but this one goes
right to the top of the list.
I don't think anyone really expects to look
down and see the house that you live in. I spent a lot of time yesterday
looking down at scenery, in this USA I am forever looking around a
full 360 degree's. You never give up wondering just what you are
going to see coming along within the next few miles.
I think it's
going to be habit forming.
My best regards
Dennis.

I do a lot of IFR flying, I'm really amazed seeing the excellent work that
you have done on your FScene2002 for

WOW!!!
FScene is fantastic! Team it up with the UK mesh and LandClass and it's like
flying a different sim.
The preview pictures I have seen of FScene2002 do not do it true justice.
This is an essential purchase for anyone who loves VFR flight.
Absolutely incredible Ruud. Why Microsft don't hire you on the spot I will
never understand.
Many thanks for a wonderful product.
Very best wishes, Paul
From Michael Burley - Ingolstadt, Germany
I want to congratulate you on how good your new American textures are.
I ended up turning the autogen off completely whereas before it was on
maximum.
After a couple of hours I loaded the original textures and realised how
inferior the original summer textures were. Thankyou for a job well done.
The autogen scenery appears to have masked the fact that previously the
textures were only very clear near the plane. They are clear now only close
to the plane and get crisper as I move towards them. I have a 2GHz machine
with Gforce 4. Up till now I have had everyhting maxed out except the frame
rate held at 18 fps.
I wish you every success as you work on the other seasons for US.

Hello,
I just wanted to say that the FScene2002 "Feel Europe" provided me with endless
hours of total enjoyment. It is a really well made product.
When airplanes were invented, I don't think that anyone could imagine how fast
and powerful aircrafts could become. I am sure that the main reason that
brought mankind to research the experience of flying was first and foremost the
heavenly desire to see the world from above. That is for me, at least, the
first and foremost reason that drives my passion for flight simulation..
I invite you to continue your wonderful work, and I wish you great success.
Your success will be the pleasure of many flight simmers who love the World
from above. Thank you.

FScene-USA&Canada...Ein sehr gutes Produkt mit verblüffender Detailtreue.

From Malcolm Gladstone - New South Wales
Australia
Malcolm kindly gave some details about his country:
Australia is a predominantly "red" country in the
centre, with green round the coastlines. Did you know also it has more snow
than Switzerland? (Just in a small area, of course - it is a BIG country!)
I now have had your textures installed for over a month.
I just wanted to write and say how much difference they have made to the
enjoyment of FS2002
- my memory to thank you was jogged by an article in Flightsim.Com by Andrew
Herd. I am currently investigating FSLand Class for Australia, and hope to have
a more realistic view of my adopted country soon.
I have encouraged as many "simmers" as I know to purchase your textures - they
do make a real difference!
Kind regards from a very hot Autumn in Australia.
From Brec Nelson
- Vancouver W.A. - Canada
A big THANKS for your work and the release of USA summer. Looking forward to
the rest over the next few months.
Along with some mesh programm, I can't imagine things getting much
better within present constraints of MSFS and PC power.
If I had one thing on a wish list - - - wished DISNEYLAND were depicted in
Orange County, CA. and a better depiction of DISNEYWORLD. Someday perhaps ??
(grins)
From Bob Leaumont - Midland USA
Loaded the FScene textures. No problem. I thought it might be two different
ways to load the textures, but wasn't sure, so I had to ask.
I had previously loaded some mesh scenery for Austria, Germany, Slovenia and
Switzerland and then your Fscene2002 textures.
Well all I can say is the combination scenery is
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My first flight was from Maribor, Slovenia to Klagenfurt, Austria
at a cruising altitude of 8000 ft. WOW.................it was awesome., I mean
really awesome.......and I got 9-13 fps with my measly 333 mhz processor.
I think my 312 mb of RAM helped some. I even turned off the Autogen, which
gave me at least 4 more fps.
Thanks for the great work.
From Dennis Hockham
i am still completely amazed
at the work that has been put into your scenery.. i'm forever
pressing the W key on keyboard and looking around at surrounding scenery. I
also find that
i am using a cessna much more so that i can do a lot of ground hopping, great
fun.
i am so certain that so many people do not even know what mesh scenery, they
don't know what they are missing.
farewell for now good friend, hope to hear from you soon
best wishes
dennis.
From Peter Harrison - Fordingbridge UK
More Real Than It Gets
There are times when Microsoft FS 2002 seems less like a finished painting, and
more like a primed canvas waiting for the artists' touch.
From replacing complete airports airports to airplane dynamics; from the
weather to the shapes of mountains, it seems that in all aspects of FS the
artists are there, working their magic on Microsoft's base.
Let's improve Europe! Start with a brush-stroke of FSMeteo to improve the
weather. Add some nice mesh scenery from Raimondo Taburet to improve the
landscape shapes, and then use FS LandClass mapping to make each square
kilometer have its correct land usage. Finally to make it 'More Real Than It
Gets', use Ruud Faber's excellent replacement textures to replace the boring
'standard' ones with ever-changing landscapes of small fields, hedges, and
lanes.
You will have spent more dollars (or Euros)than the original FS 2002 cost you,
but now who needs to fly?
You could almost spend a lifetime
walking
around this landscape, so fascinating and detailed is the result.
Just a word of caution. The land class mapping used by FS LandClass appears to
use many more combinations of textures than Microsoft's original, so that some
city and suberban areas will have that 'rectangular grid' appearance typical of
many American cities, but almost unknown in Europe. It's impertinent to ask,
but please, Ruud, could we have some more textures?
To Ruud and all the other artists and wizards: Thanks.
- Peter Harrison
From Keith Sandford - Portsmouth UK
Yes your scenery does render in 3D (page flipped) when using Nvidia's stereo
drivers. Other add on scenery such as airports does not for some reason. I have
also added fs land class great britain country pack as well, and it works very
well. 3D objects such as buildings are in the right place, such as towns and
cities and no longer spoils your scenery which has a 3D effect anyway.
Can I just say what an excellent job you have done. I spend alot of time flying
helicopters in fs2002 and I have always wanted scenery that actually resembled
the UK, such as hedgerows, isolated farm-houses and proper coloured fields.
Keep up the good work
What a difference, money well spent.
Thanks Mr Faber.
Keith Sandford
From Jim Bartosh -
Los Angeles, California USA
I used these previous version of these textures in FS2000 and loved them.
They looked superb - detailed and very "3D". I have missed them ever since I
switched to FS2002.However, I am a US, and generally fly in US and Canada. Have
you considered
releasing a version that includes the USA/North America for FS2002 ?
I find your textures are ver good for much of USA -
-
your farmland / fields looks better than default
microsoft
- your "European" type textures are very similar to farmland along USA East
Coast (New England)
- farmland fields in central USA from Ohio to Colorado ( "the plains of the
midwest" ) is composed of very large rectangular blocks and often circles
from circular water spray irrigation. (see attachement - is from San Joachin
Valley California)
- your mountain textures are superb and work very well, even in USA - your
old textures make Rocky Mountains very realistic
- a challange for USA will be desert areas of Utah, New Mexico, Nevada,
Arizona, California - these have 'desert' hills and mountains as well
From Nick Cerase - Melbourne Australia
FScene02 is the most realistic scenery I have seen for Flight Sims.
Detail is incredible - The farms, lanes, hedges and fields look like
photographs!
The 3d (?) effect gives the scenery depth and texture. Really impressive. I
hope one day to see more than Europe!
One very very minor problem - there seems to be repeated textures that create
an unrealistic pattern in a few places. Really doesn't matter though!
Finally, one observation - I live in Melbourne, Australia - and I love to fly
around Australia. Some of the FScene02 textures appear in Australia! Mostly the
town and city textures. Great! But why do these textures appear in some places
and not others, I wonder??
Since I purchased FScene02, I spent most time flying in Europe. The scenery is
just so real. Great work. Worth every cent!
You can put my comments on your web page, and my email if you wish.
All the best and keep up the good work! Flight sim fans like me appreciate your
efforts a lot!
Nick
From Chris Stumbles - Hayle UK
I found FScene.02 a great addition to FS2002. I do most of my 'flying' in the
UK and
it offers a refreshingly vast improvement over the standard MS scenery. Great
work
, great value for money and I will certainly add FSscene for the US when it is
available. Best regards, Chris.
From Rob Mays - Mesa USA
Thanks for creating your terrific textures. I've been flying around the Alps
with them installed and they look GREAT! The farmland is wonderful.
I especially like the look of the mountain foothills. It is so much more
realistic than the default!
The city textures are better as well.
Frankly, I was a little skeptical about spending the money for your textures,
but I'm glad I did. They are worth every penny!
Thanks for your fine work! I'm glad I found your product. In fact, I have been
using dense autogen with FS2002. After installing your product, I turned the
autogen off, and I think it actually looks better! Plus, dropping autogen gave
me a nice boost with frame rates! Rob Mays.
From Steve Alexander - Godalming UK
Having used your replacement textures for a while now I have to say I'm very
pleased with them; I was quite hacked off with the blanketing of tiny fields MS
had given the UK but your textures give the view a very lifelike look.
I have to say, from 5000 feet they also give an incredibly good '3d' feel as
well - hedges, treelines and so forth really stand out - fantastic !
All in all, definitely worth the asking price.
I shall periodically check in with your new website - great support ! Cheers,
Paul Astley
From Ted Holmes

Hi Ruud,
I would be very pleased if you started a project
FScene-Australia&Nw-Zealand, seeing as I am Australian anyway, and no one has
done anything to my knowledge about improving the Australian scenery in FS2K2.
,- I would definetly purchase it !!!
I think your present Europe and USA scenery, which I have, is excellent ,
and a huge improvement on the default MS scenery !!

(Michael uses both Europe and USA-Canada of FScene.)
I know you are working hard on more textures
Just a word of encouragement to keep up the good work
I just had a friend who noticed how much better your files are than the
default.

Andrew Herd: there is no doubt that Ruud, ....., has done something that the combined talent of Microsoft could not, and has made FS2002's Europe landscape look real to my eyes.
Francois Dumas: Ruud Faber, the masterful creator of the FScene2004 replacement textures for Flight Simulator, makes the FS landscape really come to life....
John Dale: FScene: Seen on my 21" Dell Monitor (picked up on ebay) it is quite breathtaking.
Ian Scott-AVSIM: If you are looking to take your FS2004 experience to an even higher level of realism and breath-taking scenery, you need to buy these latest textures from Ruud Faber.
